May 2008: Creative Futures Special

Welcome to the May edition of Headstart E-News. This edition is dedicated to our Creative Futures day on May 29th 2008 which takes place at Lutons hat Factory Art Centre. Please note this is a ticketed only event. Register in advance to avoid dissapointment.

May 29th sees Headstart hosting Creative Futures at Lutons hat Factory Arts Centre. Starting at 2pm visitors can expect to see exhibitor stands from regional organisations, support agencies and training providers covering a wide of creative industry sectors.

Seminars and workshops of up to an hour each will be held during the afternoon programme of events. Full confirmation of speakers and topics will be confirmed in the event programme due out around the 12th May. However, Adobe Indesign CS3, Photoshop CS3 and Acrobat pro 8 capabilities will be demonstrated by an Adobe Certified Trainer. Business Link will also be holding a seminar on the day. It's also planned that a Video News editor who works with the likes of the BBC, NBC, Reuters and other agencies will also be on hand to demonstrate the work he does usings Apple Final Cut Pro 6. Other Seminars are being confirmed as we write.

Pitch your Creative idea in the Den and if you're successful you could walk away with up to £500 to develop the work as well as to get access to space FREE to develop it. You will have between 5-10 Minutes to pitch your idea to a select panel of judges and then be questioned by them to see how strong your pitch is. Want to take part? then contact us to register.

Adobe and Apple courses will be offered at HUGE discounts with an Adobe one day course being offered completely free worth over £300 per place (limited places and refundable deposit required). Other courses are expected to be offered from as little as just £99+VAT per day (normally upto £250+VAT), these will include Final Cut Pro 6, Indesign CS3, Photoshop CS3, Acrobat Pro 8 and Adobe Flash CS3.

Speed Date the Professionals: A unique chance to get dedicated time with professionals in the arts and creative sectors including film makers, broadcasters and alumni. Receive personal feedback and advice from those who have been in your situation. Professionals include alumni who have gone on to work for institutions such as the BBC

Our next Jam night will take place at our regular venue, the hat Factory Basement One on April 9th. Entry is free for performers who BOOK in ADVANCE, Sound engineer provided. So tell your friends! Bar opens at 7.30pm. The next Jam after that is scheduled for Weds 4 June 2008. Musicians looking to perform should book through the website. Tickets for the audience is £2 and can be purchased on the night (first come first served)
